FAQ
Anyone in good health and with good physical fitness. We recommend it for people who are used to exercising 3-4 times a week.
There is no technical difficulty, just walking uphill for a few hours. The difficulty would be considered moderate due to the physical effort required.
The starting point of the expedition, and where you’ll be dropped off afterward, is Antigua Guatemala. Hotels are not included in this expedition.
We will sleep in glamping accommodations with the best views of the volcano.
This depends a lot on the group. Climbing Volcán Acatenango usually takes us between 3.5 to 4.5 hours. After a break of one or two hours, there’s a hike to Volcán de Fuego, which takes another 4 hours. This part is more challenging due to its steep incline.
We carefully select all our guide staff. Expeditions with fewer than 10 people are guided by our local staff, while expeditions with more than 10 people also include a Spanish-speaking team leader like Vanessa Estol or similar, who travels from our countries.
It’s important to carry between 3-4 liters with you from the start. Our expeditions include a porter who will carry your things, so you don’t need to worry about that. You can give your backpack (up to 8 kg) to them.
No, there is no Wi-Fi, but occasionally messages may come through if you have a local SIM card in some parts of the volcano.
You may encounter all types of weather. We choose the dry season to minimize the risk of rain; however, nature is unpredictable. Nighttime temperatures drop significantly, so we recommend bringing warm clothing. We can lend you a sleeping bag.
There are no refunds for cancellations, nor for not being able to reach objectives due to bad weather or reasons beyond our control. If you need to cancel with us, you can transfer the expedition to someone with the necessary physical fitness to complete it.
On this expedition, you don’t need to carry anything. You will have a porter who will carry your backpack (up to 8 kg).
We will assist you with all logistical arrangements, but it’s important to know that any expenses incurred for leaving the expedition early will be the responsibility of the participant.
$50 for tips (local guides, porters, etc.). This money is distributed among them.
$100 for extra meals, souvenirs, or other incidentals.
Money for hotel nights not included in the itinerary.
We recommend bringing antibiotics for possible stomach or throat infections, cold medicine, something for diarrhea, ibuprofen, and blister treatment.
